TREND is Austria’s most widely read business magazine. The journal reports weekly on current economic developments and their backgrounds, interviews, portrays and company leaders. It offers analyses and commentaries on the topics of investments, careers and culture.

The GEYEDANCE project is presented in the TREND journal in the 5th (December) issue 2024, (pages 139-140). The article is available in German.

GEYEDANCE is the world’s first assistive robot platform for safe and efficient retinal surgery procedures. Due to the small dimension and sensitivity of the target operation area, make the tool manipulation in retinal surgery an extremely challenging task.

The GEYEDANCE project uses advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods to capture surgical experiences and translate them into multimodal user support functionalities using the robotic platform to improve surgical outcomes.

Seven partners from five countries work in the GEYEDANCE consortium under the coordination of ACMIT. ACMIT is also the responsible partner for the development of the intraoperative sensor system, the integration of the sensors into the ultrathin tools and the entire system integration. The project coordinator is Dr. Gernot Kronreif, the scientific director of ACMIT.

According to the current project status, the properties and functions of the robot have now been defined and the start of the clinical study is scheduled for the summer.
