ACMIT proudly congratulates Peter Koppensteiner on graduating with honors from a Double Degree Master’s program. Peter completed his Master’s thesis with ACMIT in the field of neurosurgical robotics and deep brain stimulation (DBS).

From 2024 to 2026, Peter simultaneously pursued two full Master’s degrees through a special Double Degree program at the FH Technikum Wien (for “Medical Engineering & eHealth”) and the Brno University of Technology (for “Bioengineering”).

His thesis focused on the prototypical adaptation of the AutoGuide neurosurgical robot system for electrode placement in DBS therapy. The work encompassed the entire process of a feasibility study — from concept development and prototype manufacturing to preclinical evaluation. The project was supervised by Dr. Gernot Kronreif, CSO of ACMIT, and Wolfgang Ptacek, Head of the Robotics Group at ACMIT.

The results of Peter’s work were rated as highly promising by the participating clinicians and led to an overall grade of “passed with distinction” as well as a “very good” final examination.

We are proud to have supported Peter on this journey and look forward to seeing the impact of his future work in the medtech field.
