Connect Day 2026, held on May 19 in Vienna, highlighted the role of key technologies, structured deal flow, and targeted matchmaking in driving innovation. Organized by Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws) and hosted at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ), the event brought together around 1,000 participants, with startups, corporates, research institutions and investors from 49 countries underscoring its international reach.
During the event, the outstanding achievements of participating companies were also recognized. ACMIT was a partner of the renowned event, with Bernhard Nußbaumer (Managing Director & Co-owner at ACMIT) serving as a jury member for startup pitches in the MedTech & Life Sciences sector. The Pitch Award in this category was presented to Thyra Imaging FlexCo, which received a €3,000 voucher for ACMIT Venture Services.
Thyra Imaging FlexCo is a MedTech spin-off from the Medical University of Vienna, founded in 2026 to translate advanced imaging technology into real-world applications. Originally developed for astronomy, adaptive optics (AO) has been advanced toward clinical use and is combined with optical coherence tomography (OCT) to achieve unprecedented resolution in retinal imaging. Together with AI-driven analysis, this enables new biomarkers and applications in research, drug development, and clinical practice.
