The Ph.D. dissertation „Replicating liver tissue in terms of mechanical properties for anatomical models“ by Dr. Sarah-Jane Estermann deals with the tactile mechanical properties of human organs with special attention to liver parenchyma. The thesis was supervised by Dr. Andreas Reisinger and Prof. Dieter Pahr from the Dept. Anatomy and Biomechanics, Division Biomechanics at the Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences.
The „Medi3DPrint“ project was an FFG-funded cooperation project with ACMIT. Additional funding was obtained through a Science Call Dissertations from the Gesellschaft für Forschungsförderung (GFF). The aim of the project was to better understand the mechanical properties of soft tissue and to reproduce them with silicones in order to be able to produce artificial organ training models. During the three and a half years of the project, four publications could be published in renowned SCI listed journals.
