ACMIT and the ROBIOPSY consortium partners proudly announce the successful completion of REGOLUS, an innovative prototype developed within the EU-funded ROBIOPSY project, supported by an EIC Transition grant.

REGOLUS is a semi-automatic, AI-enabled robotic platform for prostate biopsy, combining robotic needle positioning, automated rotational ultrasound scanning and advanced planning software. The prototype aims to improve workflow consistency, reduce operator dependency and address key limitations related to ergonomics, manual workload and automation.

Within the project, ACMIT was responsible for developing the robotic core component, specifically designed for the manipulation of the transrectal ultrasound probe and the precise targeting and positioning of the biopsy or therapy needle. In addition to its technical responsibilities, ACMIT also played a key role in regulatory affairs management, overseeing compliance and regulatory strategy throughout the entire development process.

This milestone marks a significant advancement in the integration of robotics and artificial intelligence into clinical workflows for prostate cancer diagnostics. ACMIT is proud to contribute to this achievement and remains committed to driving innovation in minimally invasive, image-guided medical technologies.
