On 17 April 2026, Prof. Dr. Francesco Moscato, long‑term partner and supporter of ACMIT, delivered his inaugural lecture following his appointment as Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the Medical University of Vienna.
Entitled “Digital‑to‑Tangible Medicine: Closing the Loop Between Data, Devices, and the Patient” Prof. Moscato’s lecture highlighted his internationally recognized research at the interface of engineering, digital technologies, and medicine. His work focuses on translating digital medical data into clinical solutions, particularly in the areas of additive manufacturing (3D printing) for medical applications, cardiovascular engineering, patient‑specific implants, and advanced medical devices.
Prof. Moscato’s appointment also underscores the strong and long‑standing collaboration between ACMIT and Prof. Moscato’s research team, especially in the field of additive manufacturing for medical applications. One key milestone of this cooperation is the jointly conducted project M3dRES organized by Prof. Moscato, which enabled the establishment of a unique distributed 3D‑printing infrastructure across multiple locations, creating a powerful platform for research, development, and clinical translation.
Beyond research projects, the collaboration between Prof. Moscato and ACMIT Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Gernot Kronreif has also played a major role in shaping the scientific community in this field. Together, they have repeatedly and successfully organized the now well‑established conference m3d+it, and most recently its international sister conference, the International Conference on 3D Technologies in Healthcare (IC3DTH), held in Vienna. Both events have become important forums for interdisciplinary exchange and international networking in medical 3D technologies and digital health.
ACMIT congratulates Prof. Francesco Moscato on this important new phase of his academic career and looks forward to continuing the close and successful cooperation.
