The 4th General Meeting of the European EIC Pathfinder project MAPWORMS \u2013 Mimicking Adaptation and Plasticity in WORMS<\/strong> – took place in mid-March at The BioRobotics Institute of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna<\/strong> in Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MAPWORMS<\/a><\/strong> develops soft robots inspired by marine worms, using programmable, stimuli\u2011responsive materials to achieve shape change, large deformation, and peristaltic motion. The project aims to translate biological adaptation and plasticity into new engineering principles for next\u2011generation soft robotic systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna<\/a><\/strong>, together with ACMIT<\/strong> is currently carrying out a series of experimental tests on soft robotic prototypes, preparing them for further validation. ACMIT<\/strong>\u2019s key role in the project is to develop concepts for using the bio\u2011inspired robotic elements in medical applications and to test them as proof\u2011of\u2011concept prototypes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
