The B&C Private Foundation has been supporting business-related research projects and outstanding research work conducted in Austria by awarding its Houska Prize since 2005. Austria\u2019s largest private research prize is presented for the best application-driven projects in three categories: University Research, Non-University Research and Research & Development in SMEs. With a total endowment of 750,000 euros, it is the largest private prize for applied research in Austria. This year, 15 projects had the opportunity to receive the golden Houska Prize<\/strong> statue at the award ceremony on April 25, 2024<\/strong> in the „Aula der Wissenschaften“ in Vienna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ACMIT project \u201cRALV \u2013 Experience the achievable vision\u201d <\/strong>under the leadership of Dipl.-Ing. Martin Kornfeld won the 3rd<\/sup> place at the Houska Prize 2024 in the \u201cNon-University Research\u201d category.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACMIT<\/strong> developed the RALV optical system<\/strong> in collaboration with 1stQ Deutschland GmbH<\/a><\/strong>, an internationally renowned manufacturer of intraocular lenses. The further development and marketing are carried out by the newly founded spin-off company DEZIMAL GmbH<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With increasing age, the eye loses the ability to adapt to different distances of vision. This presbyopia is mainly caused by a hardening of the natural lens of the eye. The replacement of the natural lens of the eye with an artificial lens can provide relief. It is important to find the best lens model for each patient before surgery. RALV allows presbyopic patients to experience preoperative vision through true intraocular lenses (IOL) to experience postoperative vision with an IOL before the implantation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
